Meet our 2nd Spectacular Vox Pianist: Jannie Le Roux #Vox_Tribe

Tell us a bit more about yourself. (Where do you come from, where did you study, why do you love accompanying a choir):

A: I grew up in Knysna and finished High School at Hoërskool Stellenbosch. I completed my masters studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, and my doctoral studies at the University of Pretoria.

Q: What is your day job?

A: I work as accompanist/teacher/lecturer at the music departments of Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool and University of Pretoria.

Q: How do you experience working with and accompanying the Vox Chamber Choir?

A: An absolute joy…! It is great to be able to work with such a fun and professional group of people.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?

A: Undeniably the premiere of Franco's "Lig van Waarheid" in Cape Town. It was a magical, almost spiritual experience!

Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: "Lig van Waarheid" by Franco Prinsloo. Looking forward to some new works in the future hopefully. You can listen to it here:

Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir in the coming future?

A: I can not wait to experience the live performance of "Kruis van Liefde" this Wednesday!

Q: How do you experience Franco's compositions for the piano/celesta and choir?

A: Extremely fun to play and so cleverly written!

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: To be invisible, definitely!!

Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment:

1. Reading - Dean Koontz’ "Velocity";

2. Watching - "Dam" on Showmax.

Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?

A: Motorcycling. I love going out for motorcycle rides over the weekends!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A: Norway. Simply for the beautiful landscapes!
