Meet our Brilliant Baritone: Jacques Nortje #Vox_Tribe


Q: What is your day job?

A: Regional Sales Manager at Rietvallei Wine Estate.


Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir?

A: Since I was in Grade 1.


Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?

A: My first concert with the choir at Nazreth House, Pretoria in February last year (just before the National Lockdown here in South Africa)



Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox?

A: Knowing you are part of a #vox_family and that we are part of something bigger.


Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: "Lotus" - Franco Prinsloo.



Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: Making beautiful music together.


Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: To go back in time and make sure people don’t eat bats...


Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment:

A:

1. Reading - My mamma is ‘n taal - Koos Kombuis;

2. Watching - The Queens Gambit.


Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?

A: Is drinking wine a hobby??🍷🍷🍷🍷



Q: Name a part in a piece we perform that gives you goosebumps every time:

A: The 4th movement in Franco Prinsloo's newly composed Oratorio: "Vroue van Jerusalem". It was the first piece I heard and I still get goosebumps when we sing it.


Q: List 3 things on your bucket list?

1. Singing in the Notre Dame;

2. Overcome my fear of heights and go for a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia;

3. Learning how to make my own wine AND...World Peace.
