Meet the Voxies: Wouter Labuschagne (T2)

Meet our Terrific Tenor: Wouter Labuschagne #Vox_Tribe

Q: What is your day job?

A: Landscape Architect / Farmer.

Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir?

A: Since the first day of primary school, “Juffrou” Otto was our choir conductor. I believe that is where my love for choir music all started.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?

A: I had the privilege to tour with Vox in 2019 as a non-choir member. Experiencing the choir from the audience side in Europe and seeing tears roll down people's faces. A different perspective. Memorable moments!

Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox?

A: The sense of community that is formed as a result of creating music together. Something magical happens when people sing together.

Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: "Missa Brevis 'San Marco'" - the 2nd movement: "Gloria", composed by our conductor, Franco Prinsloo.

Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: Performing "Kruis van Liefde" - Franco Prinsloo; I know this sounds like a typical answer - but i believe this music is a gift from above that will inspire, transform and restore people’s hearts!

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: If I can assist, as a catalyst, to make people realise their own superpowers within- then I believe I that is a power in itself.

Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment:

1. Reading - The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John M. Comer;

2. Watching - Ooh... The Office. Again. 😉

Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?

A: My work doesn't feel like work - so I must say it is also my hobby.

Q: Name a part in a piece we perform that gives you goosebumps every time:

A: “Dink aan my” in "Kruis van Liefde" - where all the accompanying instruments stops and only our voices sings this powerful message: “Dink aan my”. Wow - something is happening there which gives me the goose.

Q: List 3 things on your bucket list?

A: Travel, Travel and Travel!

I want to Travel to South-America, Iceland and through Africa. Ooh and I want my PPL license to fly where I want to and stay on a farm.

Q: If you can change one thing in the choir what will it be?

A: The Altos. 😜 #only_jokes
