MEET THE VOXIES - A1: Liesemari Dewet

Meet our Astonishing Alto: Liesemari Dewet #Vox_Tribe

Q: What is your day job? A: I'm an Occupational Therapist working in adult neuro-rehab, as well as doing medico-legal assessments.

Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir? A: Since my grade 1 year and never stopped. Can it be 27 years already?!🥳 Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date? A: Oh boy, there are so many! Each experience with the Voxies and Franco's music is special, including rehearsals (which are with times in its own way a spiritual and therapeutic journey). However, one highlight was definitely performing at the Voortrekkermonument for our #Vox_Lente_Concert in 2021; the sounds and setting were spectacular! Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox? A: Being able to sing beautiful, worldclass music with others who I believe wholeheartedly accept me for who I am. It's also a good reminder for me to enjoy and cherish life in general, as we can easily get caught up in the mundane and routines of life. Voxies are the craziest, loudest, funniest people you will meet and spending time with them makes me feel alive! Also, singing Franco's music adds quality and depth to my life in every way. Thank you for the music, dearest Franco.❤️

Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir? A: "Magnificat" by our conductor, Franco Prinsloo. This piece is a wonderful combination of harmonic beauty, texts from the Bible and magical organ-accompaniment.🤩When singing this, it feels like the gates of heaven opening up. Listen to it here on our newly released album:

Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir? A: Performing "Kruis van Liefde" for the first time in front of a live audience; I know it is going to be amazing! Rember to get your tickets by clicking on the link below. Q: In which Vox-Tet (our octets) are you? A: "The Fanny Mendelssohn Memorial Singers". #SunshineSingers (Team Yellow☀️💛). Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be? A: To speak to animals.🐋

Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment: 1. Reading - "There's an elephant in my kitchen"; 2. Watching - "How I met your mother" for the 100th time. Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in? A: Spending time with my family, playing tennis and exploring new places. I also love making gift-cards 😊 Q: Name a section in "Kruis van Liefde" that gives you goosebumps every time: A: Everytime when I listen to "Kruis van Liefde" or when we rehearse certain sections, there is a new favourite part that stands out. Recently I've fallen in love with "XXV. Paasbelydenis". This is the finale and a beautiful summary of what the cross really means to us as broken human beings. Listen to it here:

A: Portugal (or any Mediterranean country for that matter). Ah, the idea of the ocean and those bursts of colours makes me want to sell a kidney and buy a plane ticket tomorrow!✈️ 📸 Photo Credit: The beyond amazing, Yolandi Jacobsz - Loci Photography Conductor and Composer of the Vox Chamber Choir: Franco Prinsloo Composer/Conductor
