MEET THE VOXIES - A2: Hilde Burger

Meet our Astonishing Alto: Hilde Burger #Vox_Tribe

Q: What is your day job?

A: I am an account director at a communications agency specialising in digital communication.

Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir?

A: I always sang in the choir while at school, but took a break when I was at university. Vox Chamber Choir is my first choir after leaving school and I absolutely love being part of a choir again.🥳

Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?

A: Definitely performing our conductor, Franco Prinsloo’s Christmas Oratorio "Lig van Waarheid" with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in November 2022. That is an experience that I will never forget!

Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox?

A: Being able to get together with other music lovers and create art on a professional standard that touches people in a way that only music can.

Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: The whole "Lig van Waarheid" Christmas Oratorio - there is just something special about it.

Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: Two things: Firstly, I am really looking forward to performing "Kruis van Liefde" on the 15th of March. I know that it is going to be an amazing experience. After recording and performing "Lig van Waarheid", I can't wait to perform the sequel, "Kruis". Secondly, I am looking forward to touring with Vox across Europe in the near future. It is going to be EPIC!

Q: In which Vox-Tet (our octets) are you?

A: I am part of the Fanny Mendelssohn Memorial Singers (Team Yellow💛) Love you guys!

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: Definitely teleportation… will make the commute between Johannesburg and Pretoria a little bit easier.😀

Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment:

1. Reading - Is it just me? (Miranda Heart);

2. Watching - Bones.

Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?

A: Braaing…for me every day is #braaiday🥩

Q: Name a section in "Kruis van Liefde" that gives you goosebumps every time:

A: "VII. Vroue van Jerusalem". I think I have listened to this section a million times already. It is just so beautiful and moving…leading to goosebumps every single time. Listen to it here:

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A: Italy is high on my bucket list. I want to go and experience the culture, art, beautiful landscapes, and amazing food. I want to go and see the big attractions, but also spend most of my time travelling through the countryside and interacting with the locals. #wink_wink_Vox_Euro_Tour
