Meet our Brilliant Baritone: Marinus Claassen #Vox_Tribe


Q: What is your day job?

A: I am a History Teacher at Hoërskool Eldoraigne.



Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir?

A: 9 years.🥳


Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?

A: Meeting my wife, Mezzo Soprano in Vox, Elmirie Claassen! But definitely also singing some of our repertoire in beautiful village churches during our #Vox_Euro_Tour in southern Europe - for no other reason than just to sing our amazing music in those beautiful spaces.


Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox?

A: The feeling of creation that we all share every time we work on a new piece of music. It is truly something special.



Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: Over the last few years there have been so many favourites, but a gem for me recently was from our newly released album called: "Æternum", The "Missa Sacrum: II Gloria in Excelsis Deo". It is such an exciting piece to perform, listen to it here:


Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir?

A: Creating new music, but also new memories with this amazing group of people.🤩


Q: In which Vox-Tet (our octets) are you?

A: "Die Heilige Hildegard Harmoniste" - Team Red ❤️


Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: Teleporting! To travel the world, without all the admin.



Q: What are you reading/binge watching at the moment:

1. Reading - Terry Pratchett, A Life With Footnotes by Rob Wilkins; and The Dawn of Everything, A New History of Humanity by David Graeber and David Wengrow;

2. Watching - You, The Legend of Vox Machina and MasterChef.


Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?

A: Cooking, gaming and movies!🥳

A: Vietnam, I would love to experience the culture, cuisine, history and natural beauty of the country.
