Meet our Brilliant Bass: Marius Hammond #Vox_Tribe
Q: What is your day job?
A: I am a Restaurateur & have a catering company called: Afrifrans at Delectus Manor. Together with that I'm a full-time organist and music leader at my church.
Q: How many years have you been singing in a choir?
A: Sjo...Where should I begin.😁 I started in primary school, Pretoria Boys & Girls Choir and thereafter I sang in various choirs - and now with Vox - so its basically my whole life.😀🎶
Q: What has been your most memorable experience with Vox to date?
A: My most memorable Vox experience has been the trip to Cape Town in November 2022, when we perfomed our conductor, Franco Prinsloo's Christmas oratario called: "Lig van Waarheid" in the Grootte Kerk with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in Cape Town. It was just absolutely amazing. Making heavenly music!
Q: What do you enjoy the most about being part of Vox?
A: Connecting with people from all walks of life that share the passion of singing AND the choir being a safe place where you can just enjoy yourself and be yourself.
Q: Which piece is your favourite that you have performed with Vox Chamber Choir?
A: My favourite piece would definitief be "Net soos 'n Seldsame Skone Blom" from "Lig van Waarheid". I love the way each voice group gets to carry the narrative of the movement.
Q: What do you look forward to the most with Vox Chamber Choir?
A: I look forward to performing "Kruis van Liefde" in front of a live audience. The atmosphere, the vibe performing in front of people will just be something else!
Q: In which Vox-Tet (our octets) are you?
A: A proud member of "Die Heilige Hildegard Harmoniste" (Team Red❤️)!
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: 🤔...Maybe to take away all the sadness of people (Whatever reason it may be) with the flick of a finger.
Q: What are you reading/ watching at the moment:
1. Reading – "Botone van n koorlewe deur Chris Lampbrecht";
2. Watching – Catching up on the "The Crown" (When I have time...😳).
Q: Name another hobby/interest you participate in?
A: I am a musician, but recently I started to learn how to play the Clarinet...#challenging
Q: Name a section in “Kruis van Liefde” that gives you goosebumps every time:
A: My favourite section from "Kruis van Liefde" has to be movement "V. Sal Sy graf ooit oop kan gaan?" A very soothing melody where all the voice groups intertwine with each other to create a stunning piece at the end.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Definatley the Amalfi Coast in Italy - Just look at the pictures and then you will know why!🙂
