We are super excited for our Vox Spring Concert | Vox Lentekonsert on Sunday, 03 September at 15:00 in the magnificent acoustics of the Heldesaal of Voortrekkermonument in Pretoria.🌸
Anja Pollard is one of our Awe-inspiring Altos, and this is what she has to say about this spectacular upcoming concert:
"Hi Everyone! What a wonderful privilege to look forward to singing in the imposing Voortrekkermonument.
This time of year, Pretoria is dry and dusty, but everywhere signs of the new season are starting to show. Celebrating Spring is one of my favourite parts of the year, because it is such a beautiful reminder of the importance of rest and reflection before entering a new season.
When thinking about my favourite Prinsloo-composition that we’ll be performing, the ‘Kyrie’ comes to mind as a musical metaphor for Spring. The meaning of the Kyrie in liturgy is to ask the Lord to have mercy on us. A good friend of mine, Wilhelm, explains it like this: God not only granted us mercy (not getting what we deserve), but also an abundance of grace (getting what we don’t deserve).
In this particular work the Soprano’s begin with a lamenting plea that lingers in the Monument like pure crystal and then the choir joins them with beautiful, rich harmonies - almost as a testament to God’s grace.
For me, this grace is in every breath, every new day, the growth in nature, the new music we get to sing with my dear friend, Franco and the new friendships forged throughout the seasons of Vox.
Come and join us in celebrating the grace of Spring."
