Johann Koekemoer is one of our Brilliant Baritones, and this is what he has to say about this spectacular upcoming concert:
"At primary school I travelled to the Voortrekkermonument on a field trip to explore my heritage. The thing that overwhelmed me most about this impressive structure was the sound! As soon as we stepped foot inside it, the acoustics mesmerized me. To me, it's been a dream ever since, to gather a choir and to create music in the profound space. I was blessed to participate in choral music over many years. Now even more so, being part of the Vox Chamber choir, performing under the creative guidance and leadership of composer, Franco Prinsloo. Singing his fantastic compositions, is a dream come true for me. As part of the Baritones in The Choir, I have the opportunity to explore my vocal capabilities and enjoy the privilege to perform these beautiful choral works. We are a family of five, all playing a different instrument, with our two boys performing and collaborating with local orchestras. Music forms part of our inner being. My favorite work currently, (as I am sure Franco Prinsloo will compose many favorites in the future), is his 'Nunc Dimittis'. This composition takes me back to my university choir days, our tour through Europe in the 90’s and the unforgettable cathedrals we performed in. Music is timeless. The hours of rehearsals bind us together as a choir, and not only to attain the high standard in the music and wondrous compositions, but also as individuals from all walks of life, as a group, and an extended musical family. I am excited to touch people's hearts with our outstanding repertoire under Franco’s solid direction and creative excellence. Vox Chamber Choir is as local as vetkoek or a boerie, fresh, full of goodness and flavour and served with Ouma’s best porcelain crockery. Our Vox Spring Concert and future concerts will not leave you untouched. Spoil yourself with feel good music at a truly a truly magnificent concert."
